WorkCover Psychology Appointments — Telehealth Across Queensland
Online Psychology Sessions
If you have a WorkCover Queensland claim and your work injury is affecting your mental health, you can see a psychologist as part of your claim — and for psychology, you do not need a GP referral to get started. You book with your claim number, and the appointment costs are billed directly to WorkCover Queensland at the scheduled rate.
Dr Narelle Duncan, Clinical Psychologist, provides WorkCover psychology consultations by telehealth across Queensland, with appointments available on Thursdays and Fridays.
How it works
Have your claim number ready. That's all you need to book a psychology appointment under an accepted WorkCover Queensland claim.
Book a telehealth appointment. Sessions are held by secure video — no travel while you're recovering, no waiting rooms, and no need to live near a clinic. Book online
Your first sessions are pre-approved. WorkCover Queensland pre-approves the first six hours of psychology treatment, including your initial consultation, where the condition hasn't previously been treated by an allied health provider. If further treatment would help, a treatment plan is submitted to WorkCover for approval — this is handled for you.
No out-of-pocket cost for approved services. Consultations are billed directly to WorkCover Queensland under the Mental Health Services Table of Costs. You won't receive an invoice for approved sessions.
What we can work on together
A mental injury from work might follow a single difficult event, or it might build slowly — pressure that stopped letting up, conflict that wore you down, or an incident that stays with you. However it arrived, it rarely stays at work. It can affect sleep, concentration, mood, confidence, and the relationships that matter most — with a partner, with family, with the people who are trying to help.
You may not have to wait for your claim to be decided to begin.
WorkCover Queensland pays for workers to receive treatment for a mental injury before the claim is decided, so recovery can start sooner and you have support during the decision process. If a claim isn't accepted, WorkCover doesn't continue paying for treatment — and you aren't asked to pay back the cost of the sessions you've had.
Sessions are one-on-one and may involve a thorough assessment, a treatment plan built around your recovery and return-to-work goals, and evidence-based psychological treatment for the anxiety, low mood, or stress responses that can follow a workplace injury or difficult workplace events. With your collaboration, relevant information is shared with your treating doctor and WorkCover to support your rehabilitation.
Why telehealth for a WorkCover claim
Attending appointments can be one of the harder parts of recovering from an injury. Telehealth removes the travel, keeps you comfortable at home, and makes regular attendance realistic. All you need is a private space and an internet connection. Telehealth psychology is delivered to the same professional standards as in-person care.
