Telehealth Psychology, Australia-Wide
Online Psychology Sessions
Get Life Direction is the telehealth practice of Dr Narelle Duncan, Clinical Psychologist (PhD in Clinical Psychology). Sessions are held by secure video or phone, so you can talk things through from anywhere in Australia — no waiting rooms, no commute, no need to live near a clinic. If you are at a crossroads in your relationship, your work, or your sense of direction, talking it through with an experienced, impartial professional can help you see the pattern clearly and work out what to do next.
How telehealth works here
Booking is online and takes a couple of minutes. You choose a time, receive a confirmation, and on the day you join a secure video call from your computer or phone (a private phone consultation is also available if you prefer). All you need is a quiet, private space and a reasonable internet connection. Dr Duncan practises evidence-based approaches — CBT and ACT with individuals, and the research-based Gottman Method with couples — and her published research focuses on how people cope with relationship stress, the same territory she works in every day.
Who telehealth suits
Telehealth works well if you live in regional or rural Australia with limited access to a clinical psychologist, if your schedule makes attending a clinic difficult, if you travel or move often, or if you simply feel more at ease talking from your own space. It is available to adults and to couples anywhere in Australia.
What Dr Narelle Duncan works with
Relationship and couples counselling (Gottman Method); anxiety and stress; career decisions and life transitions; self-esteem; and grief. Sessions offer insight, clarity, and a practical action map for positive change.
Availability and booking
Consultations are available on Thursdays and Fridays, by secure video or phone, Australia-wide. New clients are usually seen within a week. Medicare rebates apply to individual sessions with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan. DVA, WorkCover Queensland, NDIS (self- and plan-managed) and QPS Self-Refer clients are also welcome.
Q&A
Is telehealth psychology as effective as seeing someone in person? For most common concerns — anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, low mood, life and career decisions — research shows telehealth psychology can be as effective as in-person sessions for many people. Dr Narelle Duncan will discuss with you whether telehealth is a suitable fit for your situation.
Do I get a Medicare rebate for a telehealth session? Yes. Individual video sessions with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan attract the clinical psychologist Medicare rebate of $149.05 (item 91167). Couples sessions are not Medicare-rebatable, as Medicare covers individual treatment only.
Where do I need to be for a telehealth appointment? Anywhere private in Australia. You join by secure video or phone from home, work, or wherever you can speak freely and won't be interrupted.
What do I need for a video session? A device with a camera and microphone, a reasonable internet connection, and a quiet, private space. A phone consultation is available if you'd rather not use video.
Which days are appointments available? Thursdays and Fridays. Booking is online and new clients are usually seen within the week.
What can I expect in my first telehealth session? Your first session is mostly about understanding what has brought you here and what you would like to be different. Dr Narelle Duncan will ask about your background and current concerns, answer any questions about how telehealth works, and together you will map out a practical plan for the sessions ahead. You join by secure video or phone from anywhere private in Australia.
